Purple Loosestrife

A familiar sight throughout New England blanketing open areas with purple mid to late summer, Purple Loosestrife, Lythrum salicaria, is an invasive species. Attempts to control the spread in New Hampshire have been by manually cutting or pulling up plants, and by the introduction of bugs to eat the plants.
